Trio assaulted by folk singer for questioning rash driving in Raibagh village

The injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Chikkodi.

CHIKKODI: Three people, including two women, were attacked, allegedly by folk singer Malu Nipanal and his associates, for asking them to driver carefully, near Nipanal village in Raibagh taluk on Sunday evening.

Shekhar Hakyagol, Ashwini Eerigara and Roopa Hakyagol were travelling on a motorcycle when Malu Nipanal and his associates drove past rashly. When the trio questioned him about it, Malu and 10 of his associates, who were reportedly drunk, thrashed Shekhar, Ashwini and Roopa.

Shekhar sustained serious head injuries while one of the women was injured in the hand. They have been admitted to a private hospital in Chikkodi. The victims are residents of Kerur village and were on their way to the Kalloli temple when the incident occurred. The Raibagh police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
