BENGALURU: Transport corporation employees, who participated in the strike on Tuesday, have received notices from their respective Managing Directors (MDs) for violating the court’s interim order.
Despite the court’s directives, the employees had supported the strike called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC).
The notices, issued by the MDs of Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC), and North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), accuse the employees of dereliction of duty and causing losses to the organisation.
The notices ask the employees to explain why they should not face disciplinary action, including dismissal, for their absence from duty during the strike. The employees are warned that failure to provide a satisfactory explanation may lead to termination.
Interestingly, this is not the first time the employees have faced notices for participating in a strike. A similar notice was issued in 2021, when employees went on strike.
The latest notice has been served to employees who reported to their depots after the strike was called off, but were absent from duty during the strike.
