BENGALURU: Employees of transport corporations are planning a protest in Bengaluru on January 29 at Freedom Park. The Joint Action Committee of State Transport Employees has called for the protest, despite warnings from KSRTC MD Akram Pasha.

The KSRTC MD has warned employees that they will face disciplinary action, including ‘no work, no pay’ if they participate in the protest. Employees have been asked to report to duty and those who participate in the protest will face strict action under service rules.

The main demands of the employees are payment of arrears for the 38-month salary revision from January 1, 2020, to February 28, 2023, and a four-year salary agreement starting from January 1, 2024.

The authorities have been asked to take precautions to ensure that passengers are not affected and that bus services run smoothly. Officers have been instructed to ensure that there is no disruption to bus services and to deny leave to employees except in unavoidable circumstances.
