Transgender Tanushree murdered for pressuring male friend into marriage

BENGALURU: Transgender Tanushree from KR Puram was stabbed to death for allegedly forcing her male friend to marry her against his will.

Tanushree had been pressuring the accused, Jagadish, to marry her, which led to her murder. Three accused, including Jagadish, Prabhakar and Sushant, have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Tanushree’s body was found at her home on April 20, three days after the death. The police registered a murder case and launched an investigation.

The accused Jagadish, who was doing social service, had befriended Tanushree, and they had traveled together on a few occasions. Jagadish would also visit Tanushree’s home frequently. However, Tanushree demanded he marry her. Annoyed by her frequent demand, Jagadish decided to kill her.

Jagadish brought two friends along for moral support and stabbed Tanushree to death on the night of April 17. After the murder, Jagadish went to Tirupati to escape. The police investigation revealed that Jagadish’s friends had helped him plan and execute the murder. The KR Puram police have arrested all three accused.
