BENGALURU: A volunteer traffic warden was hit by a speeding car near Gate Nos. 17 and 18 of Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 18 during an IPL match in 2025. The accident occurred around 4 pm, just 15 days before the stampede that claimed 11 lives.
Vidyasagar, who was working as a traffic warden at the time, suffered severe leg injuries, including broken bones. He underwent surgery and had rods inserted in both legs. He has been receiving treatment at a hospital and has spent approximately Rs 6 lakh on medical expenses so far.
Despite his efforts, Vidyasagar has only received Rs 2 lakh in financial assistance from his fellow traffic wardens. He hasn’t received any help from the authorities, police department or other organisations which has left him feeling frustrated and helpless.
Vidyasagar, who supports his wife and two children through his own hard work, has taken loans to cover his expenses and is now struggling to make ends meet. He is appealing for financial assistance from the government and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to help him tide over this difficult period.
