Traffic to be allowed through Cubbon Park on public holidays

BENGALURU: Despite opposition from environmentalists and nature lovers, the government has decided to henceforth allow vehicle movement in Cubbon Park even on public holidays.

The government has planned to allow vehicle movement on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, from 7 pm to 10 pm, for a period of three hours.

Coronavirus risk for Cubbon Park visitorsThis decision was taken despite opposition from environmentalists, who argued that allowing vehicles in the park would disturb the peaceful atmosphere and harm the park’s ecosystem.

A meeting was held on January 23 in the presence of the state chief secretary to discuss the plan to allow vehicle movement in Cubbon Park on public holidays and it was decided to allow traffic for three hours in the evening.
