BENGALURU: Traffic will be affected near Jakkur, GKVK Junction and surrounding areas for three months due to ongoing Metro construction work on Airport Road and Metro Cash-And-Carry Road. The ongoing work is expected to cause traffic congestion and result in slow movement of vehicles.

People can expect traffic congestion and diversions for the next three months. Vehicles traveling from GKVK Junction to R K Hegde Nagar, Thanisandra and Service Road are likely to face hurdles. Barricades have been set up within a 100-meter radius, in the center where vehicles take a turn at the traffic signal, and the traffic is being diverted, affecting movement.

Commuters are already frustrated with the Namma Metro construction work on Airport Road, and now, the ongoing pillar work near GKVK Junction has added to their woes. People are expressing concern that if the work is not completed soon, traffic congestion can become a major problem.

Motorists coming via Hegde Nagar and Thanisandhra can travel towards Mekhri Circle via the Hebbal flyover instead of coming to GKVK Junction. However, those heading to Service Road do not have an alternative route and must go through the construction coming.

Motorist Vikram said, “People who use service roads and other roads may suffer due to the ongoing Metro work. But it would be helpful if the Metro relieves traffic congestion in the future. We are eagerly waiting for Metro service in future”.

Madhusudhan, another regular road user, said, “We are suffering a lot due to the ongoing road work and traffic chaos. Coming from Hebbal is like a nightmare for us. My house is in Jakkur, so there and crossing Hebbal is a herculean effort. It may take more than three months for Metro to complete the work and we have find alternative routes. There is no other route to reach home”.

Biker Lakshmish said, “The traffic problem may increase even more due to Mroad work. It may affect people in at least 1 km radius. People will suffer due to the diversion of traffic.”
