Traffic police sending nearly 30,000 notices daily for violation of rules

BENGALURU: The city traffic police raking in lakhs in fines every day from traffic violators after the installation of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS).

The city traffic police has issued 2.5 lakh notices after installation of ITMS cameras.

At important junctions in the city, where traffic is heavy, the police have installed ITMS cameras to capture traffic violations along with a 5-second video for proof. The traffic police have started to collect fines from traffic violators and every day, they are sending notices to 22,000 to 30,000 traffic violators.

“After the installation of ITMS cameras, every day we send 22,000 to 30,000 notices to traffic violators. The camera detects clear violations and we got a good response from citizens, who pay a fine for violating traffic rules. We have already sent 2.5 lakh notices, which are being routed through the post office. They have to pay the fine within 15 days. They can review video footage for clarification. Our main goal is to make citizens follow traffic rules and to create awareness”, said Dr M A Saleem, Special Commissioner of Police for Traffic in Bengaluru.
