Speed breakers have also been suggested at Rajajinagar (16), Malleshwaram (14), V V Puram (12), Devanahalli (11), Yeswanthpur (10), interior roads within wards (9), Chickpet (8), Yelahanka (6), Halasuru, Mico Layout, Pulakeshi Nagar, Vijayanagar, and HSR Layout, four each.
The West Traffic Police have proposed three speed breakers in their limits while the traffic police in Chikkajala, HAL, Hebbal, Upparpet, and Wilson Garden have proposed two speed breakers each in their jurisdiction. The traffic police in Shivajinagar, Peenya, High Grounds, KR Puram and Hoodi have proposed one speed breaker each in their limits.
“We have informed the traffic police to prioritise the speed breakers because we cannot afford to lay the speed breakers immediately or within a year. To lay speed breakers costs around Rs 80,000-90,000 each. Scientific speed breakers are a big challenge. Initially, we have planned to lay around 100 to 200 speed breakers”, said Prahlad, Chief Engineer, Road Infrastructure Department, BBMP.
