CHIKKAMAGALUR: Amid the incessant rain, tourists are risking their lives by climbing slippery rocks at waterfalls along the Charmadi Ghat in Mudigere taluk. Following a Public TV report, the police have deployed personnel at all the waterfalls to prevent tourists from climbing up.
The tourists manage to evade the police patrol and are engaging in risky behaviour. If stopped by the police, they find some other waterfall some distance ahead. Due to the continuous rain, several waterfalls have come to life in the taluk. In the past, several tourists have suffered injuries due to risky behaviour while some have even lost their lives.
The police have now set up barricades near the waterfalls and posted personnel to prevent tourists from climbing up. Tourists are also being warned of stringent action while the Banakal police have stepped up patrolling.
Four people were also booked for taking selfies and frolicking near a waterfall. People are also being stopped from parking their vehicles along the road as it affects free traffic flow.
