CHIKKAMAGALUR: The district administration has barred entry of visitors at the popular tourist spot Ettina Bhuja in view of the continous rain. The measure has been taken in view of tourist safety, given that landslides and tree falls are occurring in different parts.
Hundreds of tourists visit Ettina Bhuja very day which is popular for trekking. However, over the last few days, Mudigere taluk has been receiving heavy rain leading to landslips, and trees and poles falling down, affecting traffic flow.
With the selfie craze among people at dangerous locations, it can become difficult for rescue parties to reach the location, given the prevailing circumstances. Hence, based on directives of the deputy commissioner and the deputy conservator of forests, the range forest officer has issued orders barring the entry of tourists to Ettina Bhuja.
