BENGALURU: The Sadashivnagar police have filed a 188-page chargesheet in the 33rd ACMM Court against nine accused, including the son of former gangster Muthappa Rai, in connection with the torching of a Range Rover car belonging to businessman Srinivas Naidu.

The chargesheet was filed against Narayanaswamy, Abhinandan, Muniyappa, Ganesh, Shashank, Nirmal, Rohit, Rakesh and Ricky Rai in connection with the incident. According to the police, the statements of the prime accused Narayanaswamy and accused Ricky Rai are still pending.

In October 2021, the accused set fire to the luxury Range Rover car of businessman Srinivas Naidu at Saptagiri Apartments in Sadashiva Nagar. A case was registered  at Sadashivanagar police station, and the police have arrested a total of 10 accused.  The accused admitted that they burnt the car on the instructions of Ricky Rai.

Ricky Rai, son of late ex-gangster Muthappa Rai and businessman Srinivas Naidu were good friends. After the death of Muthappa Rai, Srinivas Naidu left the Rai group and had bought the luxury Range Rover. Police suspect that Ricky Rai may have got the car burnt out of jealousy.

What the chargesheet says:

Ricky Rai saw Srinivas Naidu’s luxury car three months before the incident, and had challenged him that he would set it on fire after congratulating Naidu for purchasing the new car. But Srinivas Naidu did not bother much about Ricky’s warning and continued to move about in the Range Rover. According to the statement of the accused Narayanaswamy, the gang assaulted Srinivas Naidu’s friend, Supreet. Later, they attempted to break into Naidu’s flat, but failed. Then, they executed their earlier plan of setting the car on fire.
