MANDYA: A major disaster was averted on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway when one of the rear tyres of a tipper truck carrying M-sand burst, sending a part of the mudguard flying in the air and falling close to the median.
The incident occurred near Ummadahalli Gate and was captured on a mobile phone camera. Luckily, a car was just passing the truck when the mudguard went flying. If there had been fast moving vehicles coming from behind, it could have led to a major mishap.
On Wednesday, two people sustained injuries on the expressway when a speeding Toyota Innova SUV rammed into a moving truck from behind, leaving two people seriously injured.
The incident occurred near Byrapatna in Channapatna taluk and both vehicles were heading towards Mysuru. The car was completely damaged when it hit the truck while overtaking it.
The driver of the car and another aged person sustained serious injuries while three other occupants sustained minor injuries. The Channapatna Rural police visited the spot.
