MANDYA: A TikToker, who was hooked to making reels and chatting online, was murdered by her husband who strangled her with a veil as he suspected her of having an illegal affair, at Mandyakoppalu village in Srirangapatna taluk.
The victim is Pooja (26) and the accused is her husband Srinath (33). Three days after killing her, Srinath dialled 102 and surrendered to the police. The couple have a girl child.
The two fell in love and got married nine years ago and were leading a normal life for some time. However, Pooja got hooked to TikTok a few years ago and was constantly on the phone, leading to constant fights between the couple. Srinath also suspected that she may be having an illicit affair and hence, strangulated her with a veil.
Shockingly, after committing the murder on Monday, Srinath called his father-in-law Shekar who helped in who helped him move out the body on a motorcycle from home. Later, the duo tied a heavy stone to the body and dumped it in the Cauvery river.
Shekar then went about his work at a hotel. Srinath said he would visit the Nimishamba temple near Srirangapatna and after visiting the temple, he called the police and surrendered. He also revealed that his father-in-law had helped him shift the body.
Both the accused have since been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
