Three people die in Yadgir village after consuming contaminated water

YADAGIR: Three people died and at least 100 others were admitted to hospitals with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea, allegedly caused by drinking contaminated water at Anapur village in Gurumitkal taluk on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Savithramma, Sayamma and Narasamma. On February 14, the villagers, including children, women and others, were admitted to hospitals after experiencing vomiting and diarrhoea. The villagers have expressed outrage against Gram Panchayat officials for their negligence.

Savithramma, Sayamma and Narasamma died after consuming contaminated water.

Deputy Commissioner R Snehal visited the village and officials had collected water samples from 11 different parts of the village and sent them to a lab. The report said that the water samples from four places in the village is not suitable for consumption. Snehal also inquired into the health of those who are admitted in hospital.

Hundreds have been admitted and treated at the Yadagir District Hospital, RIMS Hospital and Narayanpet Hospital in Telangana. The villagers have demanded the government to take strict action against those who are responsible for the incident. The government should provide appropriate compensation for the family members of the deceased, the villagers insisted.
