DAVANAGERE: The Vidyanagar police here have arrested three notorious inter-state thieves who broke into a house and stole jewellery and cash worth lakhs of rupees. The accused were identified as Shyam Singh (28), Kawar Pal (24), and Pratap Singh (33) from Rajasthan.
The accused had broken into the house of Ranganath in Vidyanagar on August 30 by breaking the interlock and stole gold and silver ornaments worth approximately Rs 15.37 lakh. Ranganath reported the incident to the police on September 1 when he returned home from Bengaluru.
A special team was formed under the leadership of Circle Police Inspector Shilpa YvS to track down the accused. With the help of the Surat City’s Saroli police in Gujarat, the police were able to apprehend the accused.
During the investigation, the police recovered 162.150 grams gold ornaments worth Rs 12.97 lakh, 1,350 grams of silver items worth Rs 1.08 lakh, Rs 95,000 in cash, six mobile phones worth Rs 34,000, and two watches worth Rs 3,000.
The accused have cases registered against them in various police stations, including Harihar, Haliyal, Dharwad, Tumakuru, Tiptur, and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
