CHIKKABALLAPUR: Three members of a family, including a middle-aged couple and their son, ended their lives at their house in Handiganala village of Sidlaghatta taluk on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Ramappa, his wife Sarojamma and their son Manoj. They ended their lives by consuming an aminophosphate pills.
The daughter Archana had moved out of the house with a man, Naryanaswami, from the same village, from another caste, much against the family’s wishes. Her parents had filed a missing complaint regarding the same at the police station on Monday.
The family was upset about this, and late in the night, they had planned to hang themselves in the cattle shed, but the plan failed. Later, they consumed pesticide pills and died. The incident came to light when the eldest son Ranjit came to see them in the morning.
A case has been registered at Sidlaghatta Rural police station and Chintamani sub-division Deputy Superintendent of Police Kushal Choksi visited the spot.
