TUMAKURU: Three women passengers died and more than 20 others were injured after a private bus hit a road divider and overturned early on Monday near Sira in Tumakuru district, police said.
According to the police, “The incident took place at 4.30 am on Monday. The bus was returning from Goa. The injured passengers have been shifted to a local hospital for treatment”.
After the Kallambella police station was informed about the accident, Superintendent of Police K V Ashok visited the spot along with other officials. An investigation into the matter is under way. Further details are awaited.
In another incident, a KSRTC bus entered a canal near Doddakallahalli in Kunigal taluk after the driver lost control. Some of the passengers sustained minor injuries. The incident occurred in Huliyurdurga police limits. (With Agency inputs)
