Three bodies recovered after group of 6 washed away at Markonahalli dam, search ops on

The search operation continued for the second day on Wednesday.

MANDYA: A day after six people were swept away near the Markonahalli Dam in Mandya district, firefighters and rescuers have recovered three bodies while the search for the others was continuing.

On Wednesday, the fire and emergency services personnel and rescuers pulled out the body of four-year-old boy named Mishra. On Tuesday evening, the authorities have recovered two bodies, Tabassum and Shabana. The search operation continues for the remaining three missing individuals.

On Tuesday, six people from a group of 12 went missing after going for a picnic. The group, consisting of residents from BG Palya in Tumakuru, had visited the dam on Tuesday.

The group had entered the water for fun, and seven people were swept away due to rising water levels after the dam gates were suddenly opened. One person managed to save himself and swim to safety.
