Three arrested for kidnapping spa manager for Rs 2 lakh ransom in Electronics City

BENGALURU: The Electronics City police have arrested three people for kidnapping a spa manager on Sunday night and demanding Rs 2 lakh ransom from the owner. The arrested are Manjunath (25), a resident of Bannerghatta, Prajwal (25), a resident of Anekal, and Akshay (28), a resident of Jigani,

The victim, Ashish Kumar Jha (29), a resident of Tirupalya, was kidnapped by the trio, who demanded a ransom of Rs 2 lakh from his spa owner, Prakash Mandal. The incident occurred on Sunday night when Ashish, a spa manager at Akshay Nagar, Begur, was returning home on his bike with his colleague, Manukumar.

The accused Manjunath, Prajwal and Akshay (28) followed them in a white Swift Dzire car, blocked their way near Bettadasanapura, and attacked Ashish with a sword, injuring his leg. They then kidnapped Ashish and demanded a ransom from Prakash. Manukumar managed to escape and informed the police, who sprang into action.

The police tracked the accused using the victim’s mobile phone and arrested them. The investigation revealed that the accused had hatched the plan to kidnap Ashish to recover their losses from online betting. Manjunath had lost money in online betting and was involved in a previous murder case. Prajwal was working in a private company, and Akshay was the driver of the car.

The police found that the accused had kept Ashish in a shed near Jigani and were torturing him to extract money. The police team, led by Circle Police Inspector Naveen Kumar, cracked the case within 36 hours and rescued Ashish. The team has been rewarded with Rs 50,000 for their efforts. The accused have been arrested and are facing charges.

Deputy Commissioner of Police M Narayana stated that the police had received information about the kidnapping and had formed a team to investigate. They tracked the accused using the victim’s mobile phone and arrested them. The accused had demanded a ransom of Rs 2 lakh from Prakash Mandal, but the police intervened and rescued Ashish.

The DCP praised the police team for cracking the case and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for the police team’s efforts.
