RAMANAGARA: The CEN police have arrested three people for illegally accessing the E-Swathu software and manipulating the records of about 500 properties which had wrong entries. The arrested are the mastermind Sharat (30), a former employee of the Nagasandra gram panchayat in Magadi taluk, Nadeem (38) and Deepak (27).
Ramanagara SP Srinivas Gowda said Sharat knew about the flaws in the E-Swathu software and used a fake password to access the programme. Along with Nadeem and Deepak, who used to repair computers, he manipulated the records of about 500 properties coming under gram panchayats in Ramanagara, Bengaluru, Hassan and Tumakuru districts, the SP said.
“The hacking of the software came to light after an individual, who had got some records fudged through Sharat by paying money, approached the gram panchayat for rectification of records. The Panchayat Development Officer then lodged a complaint with the CEN police. There are others involved in the racket and further investigation is under way”, the SP said.
