Three arrested for chasing ambulance and assaulting driver near Nelamangala tool plaza

BENGALURU: Three were arrested arrested by the police for chasing a private ambulance and assulting its driver near the Nelamangala toll plaza on Sunday night. The ambulance was taking a child for emergency treatment.

The accused have been identified as Yuvraj Singh, Manjunath and Latish from Yelachenahalli.

Ambulance driver John alleged that the four accused were drunk, chased the ambulance in a car for 5 km and blocked it near Nelamangala toll plaza. Then, the four pulled him out and started shouting at him that he was driving too fast, he said.

The ambulance, carrying a five-month-old baby, was coming from a private hospital in Tumkur to Vani Vilasa Hospital in Bengaluru for emergency treatment with oxygen support.

The parents of the child requested the attackers that the condition of the child was serious, but they did not allow it move and tried to take away the ignition key. Later, the police intervened on scene and allowed the ambulance to pass.

On Monday, some private ambulance drivers protested near the Nelamangala Rural police station against the attack on the ambulance driver. They demanded that appropriate action be taken against the accused.
