BENGALURU: Three people of a gang of five have been arrested for allegedly honetrapping a contractor and fleecing him of money. The contractor Ranganath lodged a complaint at Byadarahalli police station after he got suspicious about the incident that happened with him.

During the investigation, police discovered that Nayana, Mohan, Santosh and two others were involved in the honeytrap and are currently searching for Nayana.

Ranganath was introduced to an accused Nayana through a friend. Initially, Nayana gained Ranganath’s trust by telling him that her child was having health issues and took Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 from him.

However, things took a turn when Nayana started calling Ranganath daily, asking him to visit her at home. On December 9, Ranganath was riding his two-wheeler on Magadi Road when Nayana approached him on a scooter and invited him to her home, offering tea. She also said that she lived close by.

Ranganath, unaware of the impending danger, followed Nayana to her home. Once inside the house, two unidentified men entered the house claiming to be police officers from the Crime Branch. They assaulted Ranganath, took off his clothes and clicked photos of him. The gang then demanded R 2 lakh from Ranganath. They also stole his gold chain, Rs 29,000 in cash and transferred Rs 26,000 from his phone to their account through PhonePe.

After the incident, Ranganath asked Nayana to join him in filing a complaint, but she remained unresponsive. Ranganath then consulted with lawyers and filed a complaint at the Byadarahalli police station. Following this, she had blocked his number.
