MADIKERI: Goddess Cauvery emerged as a sacred spring in the Brahma Kundike at Talacauvery near Bhagamandala during Makara lagna on Friday.
Thousands of devotees gathered to witness the sacred event, which took place at 1.44 pm. The chief priest, Guru Rajachar, performed the rituals, including Sahasra Namarchane, Pushparchane and Kunkumarchane from 11.30 am itself. Devotees, including those from neighboring districts and states, thronged Talacauvery to witness the Cauvery Theerthodbhava.
Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar, Virajpet MLA A S Ponnanna, Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda, actress Harshika Poonacha and her husband and actor Bhuvan Ponnanna were among those who attended the event. They offered prayers and participated in the rituals. The devotees chanted ‘Ukki Baa Thayi’ and offered prayers to Cauvery, seeking blessings and well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, Yaduveer said, “Cauvery Sankramana is a special event in Kodagu and I wish the people of the state and especially Kodagu on the occasion. I pray to Goddess Cauvery to bless us all with bounty. It is my privilege to participate in the Cauvery Sankramana. I could not participate last year, but this year, I made sure to participate and undertook padayatra from the Bhagandeshwara temple at Bhagamandala”.
Harshika Poonacha said, “Cauveramma has always fulfilled our wishes and we have witnessed lot of positive developments, including a lovely daughter”. Congress MLA Ponnanna said, “Thousands of devotees took part in the event and I pray that Goddess Cauvery blesses all the people of this land”.
After the emergence, the priests showered the sacred water on the devotees as a blessing. The event was marked with great fervor and enthusiasm, with devotees seeking the goddess’s blessings for good health, peace, and prosperity.
