Thousands of devotees witness theerthodbhava at Talacauvery

MADIKERI: The annual theerthodbhava of river Cauvery, wherein the holy water appears in the Brahma Kundike at Talacauvery, the birthplace of the river, occurred at 1.27 am in the Karkataka lagna today. This was one minute earlier than predicted.

Virajpet MLA A S Ponnanna, along with actors Bhuvan Ponnanna and his newlywed wife Harshika Poonacha walking from Bhagamandala to Talacauvery.

Prior to this, various rituals were conducted by priest Gururaj Achar and others. Thousands of devotees, in traditional Kodava attire had walked 8 km from Bhagamandala to the birthplace of the river Cauvery to witness the event. Devotees had also come in from other districts and states including Tamil Nadu.

As soon as the holy water appeared, the priest and others showered the water on the gathered devotees amid chants.
Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, Kodagu district in-charge minister Boseraju, Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda, Virajpet MLA A S Ponnanna were among those who participated in the rituals.
