BENGALURU: An autorickshaw driver got into a heated argument with his passengers for not speaking in Kannada. A video of the conversation has since gone viral on social media.
The incident is believed to have occurred in Bengaluru, but it is unclear when or where it happened. In the conversation between the autorickshaw driver and his passengers, the driver, speaking in fluent English, insists that they should talk in Kannada since they are in Karnataka.
“This is Karnataka okay, you have to speak in Kannada”. When one of the woman passengers says, “We will not speak in Kannada. Why we will speak in Kannada”, the driver can be heard saying, “Beggars, North Indian beggars. You people are North Indian beggars. Then why have you come to Karnataka? This is our land, okay, not your land. You have to speak in Kannada. Why should I speak in Hindi?
The women can then be seen getting off the autorickshaw at their destination and trying to end the argument saying, “Okay, okay”, before they walk away.
