BELAGAVI: Thirteen people have been arrested for garlanding a woman with footwear and parading her at Ghataprabha in the district last week.
Belagavi Superintendent of Police Bheemashankar Guled said that following the inhuman treatment of the woman, the police reached the spot and admitted the victim to a hospital. Based on her complaint, 13 people have been arrested so far and further investigation is under way, he added.
In a shocking incident, a woman, identified as Sridevi Godachi, was garlanded with footwear and paraded by a group of women at Ghataprabha on Gokak taluk last Friday. Some locals accused the woman of honeytrapping and blackmailing people.
