Third death due to suspected dengue in Bengaluru, BBMP to confirm after audit

BENGALURU: A 23-year-old resident of Viveknagar died of suspected dengue in the city on Friday. While two deaths have already occurred in the city so far, the latest one will be added to the count only after a death audit by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP.

Meanwhile, the Health Department has issued notices to 22 laboratories in different parts of the city for charging more than the prescribed prices for dengue tests. Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has said that complaints can be lodged on the helpline number 94498-43037.

The government has capped the rates for tests — Rs 300 for Dengue ELISA NS1, Dengue ELISA IgM B and Screening Test Rapid and Rs 250 for card test for NS1, IgM & IgG. Action will be taken against laboratories charging over the stipulated rates.
