BENGALURU: A notorious two-wheeler thief, who stole 100 two-wheelers over three years, was arrested by KR Pura police. The thief is Prasad Babu, a resident of Bangarupalyam in Andhra Pradesh.
Prasad Babu would come to Bengaluru every evening by bus and target high-end two-wheelers. He would roam around residential areas like KR Pura, Tin Factory and Mahadevapura and then steal two-wheelers parked outside homes after breaking the handle locks.
The stolen bikes were sold in Andhra Pradesh for Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000, and Prasad Babu would use the money to fund his lavish lifestyle. Police have recovered 20 Royal Enfield and 30 Bajaj Pulsar motorcycles, 40 Hona Activa scooters, and other vehicles worth approximately Rs 1.45 crore.
The KR Pura police have registered a case after seizing 100 two-wheelers. Prasad Babu’s arrest has brought relief to the residents of Bengaluru, who had been plagued by bike thefts for years.
He had put display picture on his phone of a Telugu movie, which read, “Chase me, if you dare”. He was quite choosy about the bikes he stole and stole mostly Royal Enfield bikes. He was also particularly fond of black and red Pulsar bikes. He wouldn’t steal any other scooters except for the blue Honda Access and his favourite was the Royal Enfield. He had a peculiar taste for bikes and was quite specific about the ones he wanted to steal, police said.
