Thief steals Rs 4.5 lakh from motorcycle rider in Jagalur, act caught on camera

DAVANAGERE: A man stole Rs 4,50,000 in cash from a two-wheeler rider just as the latter starts his motorcycle and moves ahead, in front of the DCC Bank in Jagalur town on Monday.

Kotresh, a resident of Hanumanthapur village, had borrowed money from the DCC bank after pledging gold ornaments to close another loan with Canara Bank.

Footage from a CCTV camera shows a young man loitering near the bank premises, goes elsewhere and returns. In the meantime, Kotresh comes out of the bank and keeps bundles of cash in the sidebox of his motorcycle. Just as he is about the start the motorcycle and move, the thief manages to steal the cash from the sidebox and quickly escape from there. Kotresh, who did not notice anything untoward, can be seen riding away on his motorcycle.

A case has been registered at the Jagalur police station.
