KOPPAL: A thief, who had struck at a house, was caught by villagers at Hiresulikeri village, tied to a pole and later handed over to the police in the wee hours on Thursday.
A gang of four thieves entered Hiresulikeri village and one of them broke into the house of one Shivappa from where he took away jewellery and cash. However, he was caught by the villagers when he was attempting to escape.
The villagers then tied the thief to a pole. He told the villagers that he had a quarrel at home and had resorted to theft. The gang of thieves had come from Ginageri village in Koppal taluk. The thief was was later handed over to the Koppal Rural police.
