BENGALURU: Oone of the popular eateries in the city, The Rameshwaram Cafe at Brookfield, reopened today, on the day of Mahashivaratri, a week after an explosion caused by an improved explosive device (IED) left nine people injured. The restaurant will restart services for its customers from Saturday.

The cafe is all set to welcome customers like earlier, with all preparations and all staff having decorated the cafe for reopening. Puja rituals were performed in the cafe in the morning under police vigilance. Rituals including Ganesha puja, Mahasudarshan Narasimha homa, Lakshmi puja, Navagraha homa, Mrityunjaya homa and Vastu homa, were conducted inside the cafe area. Rudrabhishek puja and Maharudra Parayana were also performed as part of Shivaratri.

The owner Raghavendra Rao has already made some changes in the cafe on the advice of the police. Two metal detector systems have been installed at the entrance of the cafe. Each customer will be screened through a hand detector by a staffer before entry. These measures have been taken at all the outlets in the wake of the bomb blast.

A bomb exploded in The Rameswaram Cafe in Brookefield last Friday. The case has been handed over to the NIA for investigation, and the police have detained four suspected terrorists who are from different parts of the country.

The Rameshwaram Cafe owner Raghavendra Rao said the restaurant will be open tomorrow at 6.30 am with the national anthem. “The police department has suggested some precautionary measures. Accordingly, two metal detectors have been installed. We have taken similar safety measures in all our cafes. Two people have been appointed to monitor customers. The cafe staff will keep a close watch on the things brought by customers and their behaviour. In the evening, some dignitaries, including ministers, are likely to come. The investigation is going on at a quick pace. I am confident that the perpetrators will be found as soon as possible”, he said.
