Ten arrested in Mangaluru for consuming, peddling cannabis

MANGALURU: The city police have arrested ten people, including an overseas citizen of Indian origin, doctors and medical students, for consuming and peddling cannabis on Wednesday.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Rauf (34), a drug peddler, Dr Sameer (32), Dr Nadiya Siraj (24), Dr Varshini Prathi (26), Richa Chadda (22),  Heera Basin (23), Dr Kshithij Gupta (25), Dr Bhanu Dahiya (27), Dr Manimaran Muthu (28) and Neel Kishorilal Ramji Sha (38).

Ten people including doctors, medical officers and medical students were heldfor consuming and peddling Cannabis.

The police first arrested Indian-origin UK citizen Neel Kishorilal Ramji Sha for drug peddling and after questioning him, arrested the nine others. The police have seized 2 kg of cannabis and one pistol. The accused were produced before a court and were remanded for two days in police custody.
