BENGALURU : Telugu actor Hema has been arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on the charge of trying to mislead the investigation in connection with the rave party case, which was organised at a farmhouse near Electronics City on the night of May 19.
Recently, Hema’s sample test report returned positive for presence of drugs. A notice was issued to her to appear before the CCB for recording her statement, but she did not turn up, citing ill health and sought more time. The CCB officials had served a second notice to her later on.
Hema arrived in Bengaluru at 4 pm today and appeared before the CCB authorities wearing a burqa when the CCB arrested her.
The CCB officials said she was not giving satisfactory answers to their questions. The police took her to KC General Hospital for a medical test where doctors collected a hair sample from Hema. She has also been treated for fever.
The actress will be produced before a court in Anekal on Tuesday morning.
Earlier, when Hema’s name surfaced in the case, she had denied the allegations and claimed that she was not in Bengaluru, but at a farmhouse in Hyderabad. She had claimed that the allegations against her about being present at the rave party were false and had termed it as fake news.
