BENGALURU: BJP MP and Yuva Morcha National President Tejasvi Surya on Sunday slammed the Congress-led state government in Karnataka for allegedly delaying the opening of Bengaluru’s Baiyappanahalli-KR Pura Metro line despite receiving all approvals.

He alleged that the state government is delaying the opening because they are waiting for Rahul Gandhi or some other leader to come and inaugurate the same.

Referring to the traffic woes in the city, MP Tejasvi Surya said that if this section opens, it will benefit around 50-60 per cent of the daily commuters.

“About 5 to 6 lakh people use the Bengaluru metro every day. Around 50-60 per cent of this number is set to get benefits if the Baiyappanahalli-KR Pura metro section opens. The state government despite receiving all approvals and green signalling from the CMRS after its inspection, is still delaying the opening of this line,” the BJP Yuva Morcha chief said.

He further said, “However, the state government is not opening the operations to the public only because it is waiting for either Rahul Gandhi or some other leader of the Congress to come and inaugurate this project.”

Tejasvi Surya said that it is frustrating for the public to see a project getting delayed due to ‘political reasons’ while urging the state government to immediately open the line for the public.

“It frustrates people to see a public infrastructure project that is ready, but the state government is not opening it for political reasons. I demand the CM and the Dy CM to immediately open this line for the public and not let the people of Bengaluru suffer,” he added.

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ campaign, the BJP leader praised young people for participating in large numbers to make the program a success.

“Responding to the clarion call of the PM, the BJP Yuva Morcha has organised Swacchta Hi Seva programs, today… Keeping our public places clean is an important facet of India’s move towards becoming a conscious global power…I am extremely happy to see young people participate in large numbers and make this program and make this movement a true success,” he added.
