ENGALURU: The Traffic police are implementing new rules and experiments to bring traffic violations under control. As per the Traffic department’s data, it is more of the literate citizens, including techies, are caught violating traffic rules.

The traffic police, while educating people about violations and fines, have stumbled upon the fact that employees of IT/BT companies, which are located in the city, including Mahadevapura, Whitefield, HAL, HSR Layout areas are committing the highest number of traffic violations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Kuldeep Jain said, “Normally, traffic jams could be seen in these areas during peak hours. It was mostly IT/BT employees who jump traffic signals, drive up the wrong way on one-way stretches, ride bikes without wearing helmets while going to work without bothering about traffic rules. The department has started a special drive against such individuals in the past month. We are keeping a close watch on the roads, dealing with them during peak time. We have also brought it to the attention of their family members and their superiors at offices by being sending notice”.

The major purpose of the exercise by the police is to bring traffic violations under control. Families and the workplace is being informed just to make them understand the need to adhere to traffic rules and the consequences of jumping traffic signals, the DCP said.
