BENGALURU: A techie in the city was duped of Rs 34.69 lakh by cyber fraudsters who posed as Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Mumbai police officials.
The incident occurred when the scammers called the techie, Rajasekhar Reddy, claiming to be ED officials and threatened him, saying a case had been registered against him at Kolaba police station in Mumbai.
They kept him under surveillance for 24 hours and asked him to share his location every two hours, claiming that an investigation was under way in court.
The techie, believing the scammers, handed over his money. A case has been registered at the East Division cyber crime police station.
