Teachers cut off students’ hair for not tying ponytails at govt school, spark outrage

RAMANAGARA: Teachers at the Aralasandra Government School in Channapatna taluk cut off the hair of three Class 8 girl students for not tying two ponytails as per the school rules.

The students, who were upset by the incident, informed their parents who, in turn, took the teachers into task for such a weird punishment.

The parents were furious and demanded action against the teachers. They expressed outrage at the school’s headmaster and physical education teacher Shivakumar, and another teacher, Pavithra.

The incident came to light when the students returned home and narrated the incident to their parents. The parents immediately rushed to the school. The local education authorities and police from Akkur also visited the school and conducted an inquiry into the incident.

The incident has sparked outrage among parents and locals, who are demanding strict action against the teachers involved.
