MYSURU: A teacher allegedly beat up an eighth standard student with a steel ruler for playing with chalk during leisure time at a private school at Shantipur village in HD Kote town in the district on Friday.
The incident occurred at True Shepherd Public School in Shanthipur and the injured boy has been identified as Amrith while the teacher was identified as Siddaraju.
Siddaraju apparently told Amrith’s parents that he had cut his hand with a cutter in class. The injured Amrith is now being treated at the hospital.
Taluk Education Officer Uday Kumar visited the school and a probe is under way.
