Tahsildar missing after being accused in corruption case by Lokayukta police

RAMANAGARA: The tahsildar of Magadi taluk has been missing for the past 15 days after a raid on the taluk office in connection with a corruption case. The missing official has been identified as Srinivas Prasad.

On January 3, Manjunath, who was an intermediary in the Magadi taluk office, demanded Rs 60,000 from a citizen and also received Rs 20,000 as an advance for some official favour. Meanwhile, the individual lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police.

Tahsildar Manjunath has been missing ever since the Lokayukta raid.

Lokayukta officials raided the taluk office when Manjunath was receiving the remaining amount. As the incident took place in the taluk office premises, the Lokayukta police got the statement of the tahsildar over a phone call. But ever since, his phone has remained switched off.

Lokayukta officials have filed an FIR against the tahsildar also. He had sent a WhatsApp message to his higher-ups requesting leave and has been missing since then. The district administration has clarified that his leave was not approved.
