BENGALURU: The third accused in the Chaitra Kundapur’s fraud case, Abhinav Halasree, who was hiding after defrauding businessman Govinda Babu, has finally been arrested. Ever since the CCB registered the case, the accused had gone missing and the police set up two teams to search him.
Halasree used to travel by train, disguising himself as an ordinary man to hide his identity. The CCB police arrested him after they got a clue about a train ticket.
He was taking a train instead of a car to travel for fear of getting caught easily by police, and he planned to go to a North-Eastern state. It has been revealed that Halasree was making preparations to move towards Kashi.
He was planning to go to Kashi via Mysuru, Hyderabad, Puri Ganjam and Cuttack. But Swamiji has fallen into the CCB trap in Cuttack, Odisha. The CCB arrested him while he was traveling in the train, with the help of Odisha police. Authorities also arrested another person who was with the accused. He was using four basic phones and four SIMs for his communication.
According to police, the swamiji used to read many books of Swami Vivekananda. The CCB police got information about a person reading Vivekananda’s book. On that basis, the CCB collected information about train passengers. Then, the police sent Halasree’s photo to the Odisha Railway Police and got confirmation about him. The police are likely bring him to Bengaluru late tonight.
Halasree used to stay at night in temples, and then, he would leave after taking the darshana of God. He was staying in temples every day for the last five days, from Hyderabad to Odisha.
Halasree had travelled 1,400 kilometers by train for five days.
The CCB will leave for Bengaluru in the evening after getting the transit warrant.
The police went on his trail with the help of a train ticket, but in a twist, Halashree boarded the train at a different station than the station where he had taken the ticket. He purchased a new mobile phone after visiting the Konark Temple. He contacted a Swamiji from Andhra Pradesh from the same mobile phone. Earlier, he took shelter in the Farooqabad ashram, then visited Konark Temple, from there, he moved to Puri Jagannath Temple.
