BENGALURU: Ever since Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai returned from his Delhi trip, there has been a lot of curiosity over what changes may be expected in the state BJP unit which is preparing for the Assembly election next year.
The CM has dropped plans of visiting London this month and questions now hang over his visit to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum summit later this month. He was earlier scheduled to leave for London on May 18-19. He has now said that he will reveal about his Davos plans on Saturday.
Senior leaders themselves are unsure whether word from the party top brass will come on Saturday or the next week.
The CM, who returned from Delhi on Friday morning, met his predecessor B S Yediyurappa for about 20 minutes and discussed the outcome of his visit. When Yediyurappa asked him what Amit Shah said, Bommai informed him that he was asked about the developments in the state and told that the state leaders will be informed about the future course in the next 4-5 days. “There was no clear message, but major decisions will be taken”, the CM is learnt to have informed Yediyurappa.
BJP general secretary in charge of Karnataka, Arun Singh, is expected to arrive on Friday night. The party’s core committee scheduled to meet on Saturday morning, has also assumed significance in the light of the developments.
