BENGLAURU: Some former mayors and corporators of Bengaluru have demanded the suspension of the mayor’s fund in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s upcoming budget. They have questioned the need for allocation to the mayor’s fund while pointing out that the BBMP has no mayor or corporators.

The former mayors and corporators have also alleged that allocations are being made to the mayor’s fund only to swindle it.

The BBMP is making preparations to present its budget after the state budget is presented next month. The civic body is also in the process of eliciting public opinion on what can be incorporated into the budget.

After the furore last year, when the budget was presented at night, the Palike is being more careful and Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath has assured that it will be done in a transparent manner.
