BENGALURU: The gruesome murder of Mahalakshmi in Vyalikaval has taken a major twist with the he prime suspect, Mukti Ranjan Ray, committing suicide by hanging in Odisha.
He had been on the run since the murder. The Bengaluru police investigating the case had suspected that Mukti Ranjan might have fled to Odisha. A team from Vyalikaval police station was set to leave for Odisha to apprehend him.
The police believe Mahalakshmi was murdered between September 2 or 3, as she was last seen at work on September 1. Mukti Ranjan, the team leader at Mahalakshmi’s workplace, did not come to work after September 1, which led to many suspicions. The Bengaluru police had gone to Odisha on the trail of the suspect and had also informed the Odisha police about the murder case.
In the meantime, psychiatrists have analysed that the killer who chopped Mahalakshmi’s body into 59 pieces was very dangerous and may have been suffering from a syndrome called pseudo-machismo. They had also warned that if he is not arrested immediately, more people could become similar victims.
