BENGALURU: The investigation into Dr Krutika Reddy’s murder has revealed that her husband, Dr Mahendra Reddy allegedly purchased the anaesthetic drug Propofol from two sources.

When he was working as a surgeon at Victoria Hospital, Mahendra likely accessed the hospital’s pharmacy or operation theatre to obtain the drug. Mahendra’s brother also owns a medical store in Madiwala, which may have been another source of the drug.

Police suspect that Mahendra used his professional connections to acquire the Propofol, which he then used to kill his wife. The preliminary investigation also revealed that Mahendra was upset with Krutika’s family for refusing to financially support his hospital venture.

Mahendra and his brothers had faced criminal cases in the past, including a case in 2018 where they were accused of threatening and intimidating the girfriend of his brother Nagendra. The case was finally settled for Rs 20 lakh.

Krutika’s family has also alleged that Mahendra had an affair with a woman from his college days. The police are continuing their investigation including gathering information from Victoria Hospital and other places.
