BENGALURU: In a relief to former CM B S Yediyurappa, the Supreme Court has dismissed a petition questioning its earlier interim order providing protection from arrest in a land denotification case.
Social worker Alam Pasha, who is the complainant in the case, had filed a petition urging the Supreme Court to quash its earlier order granting Yediyurappa protection from arrest and staying all further proceedings against him. A two-judge bench headed by Justice B R Gawai refused to quash its earlier order and posted the main petition for further hearing on January 30.
The complaint against Yediyurappa was that he illegally denotified 15 acres and 30 guntas of land which had been acquired for the IT corridor in Bellandur and Devarabeesanahalli villages. The special court for elected representatives had issued summons to Yediyurappa to present himself before it for hearing.
Questioning the summons and seeking a stay on the proceedings, Yediyurappa had approached the Supreme Court.
