Suo motu case filed after pro-Pakistan slogans raised on vote counting day in Belagavi

pro-Pakistan slogans were raised in Belagavi on the day of counting of votes for the Assembly election.

BELAGAVI: The Tilakwadi police here have registered a suo motu case in connection with the incident were pro-Pakistan slogans were raised in the city on the day the Karnataka Assembly election results were announced. This was also confirmed by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Alok Kumar on Twitter in reply to another Twitter handle.

When the Congress took a huge lead in the counting process, some Muslim youths had raised pro-Pakistan slogans. Tilakwadi police inspector Dayanand Shegunasi has registered a suo motu case that Muslim supporters of the Congress raised pro-Pakistan slogans under IPC Sections 153 and 153(b).

The incident occurred around 2.30 pm on May 13 at the RPD Circle when counting of votes was going on at the RPD College. A video of the slogans being raised had gone viral on social media. On Sunday, Belagavi North Congress MLA Asif Sait had claimed that the video fake and had blamed the BJP. He had even threatened to file a defamation case.
