SULTANPUR(Uttar Pradesh): Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, interacted with loco pilots in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday.

Congress, via its social media handle X, stated that after Rahul Gandhi’s engagement with the loco pilots, the Modi government began addressing their issues.

During his visit to Sultanpur, Rahul Gandhi also interacted with a local cobbler.

In a post on X, Congress wrote: “Today, Leader of Opposition Mr. @RahulGandhi met the loco pilots in Sultanpur. Recently, Rahul Gandhi had listened to their concerns and highlighted their challenging working conditions. Following this, the Modi government began paying attention to their problems. Loco pilots are the backbone of the railways. Providing them with necessary facilities and humane working conditions is crucial for railway safety. We will ensure justice for them.”

On July 7, Rahul Gandhi criticised the Bharatiya Janta Party-led (BJP) central government after meeting railway loco pilots at New Delhi Railway Station who complained about long working hours and inadequate facilities.

Criticising PM Modi, Gandhi stated that the lives of loco pilots had “derailed” under the BJP’s regime, dubbing them “Railways Ka Agniveer.”

In a post on X, along with a video of his interaction with railway workers, Gandhi noted that loco pilots work over 14 hours a day without basic necessities like urinals in locomotives.

He highlighted that loco pilots endure harsh working conditions and claimed that “non-movement” railway workers are receiving the bulk of the allocated budget benefits.

The video featured loco pilots alleging human rights violations, demanding an 8-9 hour work shift, basic facilities like urinals and AC in locomotives, and a limit of two consecutive night shifts.

On July 6, after meeting street vendors and daily wage labourers in GTB Nagar, Delhi, Rahul Gandhi criticised the BJP’s central government, stating that daily wage labourers face severe hardships. He asserted that these labourers live in poverty, sustaining their households for four days with one day’s earnings.

In his post on X, accompanied by a video, Gandhi stated that the families of workers building India’s future are in danger and reiterated the struggle of labourers living on minimal earnings.

The video showed Rahul Gandhi interacting with the public, discussing their issues, and engaging with labourers at a construction site in Gopalpur. (ANI)
