MANGALURU: Sujatha Bhat, who had alleged that her daughter Ananya Bhat has been missing for nearly two decades, has moved out of Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi’s house in Ujire after her flip-flops. She was also not accompanied by her lawyer on Thursday and travelled alone in an autorickshaw.
Over the last two days, she has been staying at a lodge in Ujire from where she has been commuting to the SIT office in Belthangady. The fallout between Sujatha Bhat and Mahesh Thimarodi is likely due to her conflicting statements regarding Ananya Bhat.
So far, Sujatha Bhat has not provided any documentary evidence about the existence of Ananya Bhat, except for a passport size photograph which is supposedly that of Vasanthi, the daughter-in-law of one Rangaprasad who was supposedly Sujatha’s live-in partner in Ripponpet of Shivamogga district.
The SIT investigating officer Gunapal J on Thursday confronted Sujatha Bhat with her family tree and she expressed anger against her late uncle Narayana Upadhyaya over some property at Parika in Udupi. She could not, however, give convincing replies to a question on who actually lodged the complaint regarding the missing Ananya Bhat. While she initially claimed she herself lodged the complaint, she later retracted and blamed Mahesh Thimarodi.
She also claimed that an influential person from Mandya had been supporting her financially for her travel and stay. However, she did not mention any name. She also admitted to have committed a mistake and asked to take back her complaint, sources said.
Meanwhile, the SIT is also likely to summon activist Jayanth T as he had accompanied Sujatha during a visit to Delhi.
