Students drag lecturer into grove, assault him near Anekal

BENGALURU: A private college lecturer, Murali, was dragged into a grove by two unidentified youths, who were reportedly under the influence of ganja, and was brutally assaulted by them on Hosur Road near Anekal.

Murali is a resident of Ashraya Dinne near Anekal. Two bike-borne youths approached him Murali went he was relieving himself near the college, dragged him to a deserted area near the Nilgiri grove, assaulted and pricked him with a pen, injuring his hand and back. They also beat him up mercilessly, breaking his fingers, snatched his mobile phone and transferred an amount of Rs 100 through PhonePe.

He suffered severe injuries and called his friends who took him to the government hospital in Anekal for treatment. He has since been shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru for further treatment.

The Anekal police visited Murali in the hospital, gathered information and have launched a hunt to catch the culprits.
